Frequently Asked Questions

Is this all I need to prepare for the AET test?
In a word, No! This course has been designed to help the technician prepare for the AET test. It assumes that at some point, maybe recently, maybe a long time ago, you have studied basic electricity and electronics. The course serves as a companion to Avotek's Fundamentals of Aircraft Electronics text and workbook. These books provide a much deeper explanation, and many more examples and sample problems. We recommend that you use the online course as a companion to the books. These books are available here: https://www.avotek.com/shop/avionics-fundamentals-of-aircraft-electronics/
Do I have to study the lessons in order?
This course has been designed to be the perfect companion for the textbook and you will quickly discover that the Lessons and Lectures in the online product are in the same order as the Chapter and Section names in the book. This allows you to quickly find the subject in the textbook or workbook if you need more details, examples, or additional study questions. To help ensure your success in preparing for the AET exam, we have also included three features designed to guide your studies. The lessons must be completed in the order that they appear in the curriculum. This will make certain that you have all the building blocks in place for the following subjects. Separate, but related to this is that you will be required to watch at least 90% of each video before it will allow you to move on to the next lesson. Because most of the videos are quite short, you may not even notice that this is in place. The third condition is that you must pass the short quiz at the end of each section. Don't worry - you have 99 chances to do so. After you have passed the quiz you may move on to the next section confident in the knowledge that you have just completed.
How long do I have access to the course?
Your purchase will give you access to this material for one year. That should be more than adequate to allow you to study for your AET exam. Because this course is preparing you for a currently published exam it is to your advantage to move steadily through the material and take the test as soon as you are ready. However, the content will be revised as changes to the ASTM standards and the AET exam are published so you will never miss out on having the latest information.
What if I am unhappy with the course?
