Fundamentals of Direct Current 1
This is the first of a two-part course. It addresses atomic theory, magnetism, and electrical characteristics. The material starts with atomic structure, the components of an atom, and the electrical charge associated with each. This discussion leads to information about conductors, insulators, and semiconductors. Magnetism and its relationship to the flow of current is examined both as a way to generate electricity, and a way to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. The information presented in this course is from Avotek’s Aviation Mechanic–General textbook and from Avotek’s Avionics: Fundamentals of Aircraft Electronics textbook. Both are available for purchase through Avotek.com.
This exploration of electricity will begin with the chemical and physical properties that are behind the generation of an electrical current and its movement through conductors.
