Human Factors
This course addresses the human factors that apply to the aviation workplace, their causes, and how to mitigate them. This program defines the term Human Factors, identifies the types of human error, and how the daily activities of the AMT can be a factor leading to those errors. Several models have been created over the years to help identify the considerations that need to be kept in mind when looking to reduce human factors in the workplace. These include the PEAR Model, the SHEL Model, and the Dirty Dozen among others. These models are examined in detail. This material all supports the goal of human factors in reducing maintenance errors. The information in this course is from Avotek’s Aviation Mechanic–General textbook, which is available for purchase through Avotek.com.
